What excites you most about working in the AML/CFT field?
The AML/CFT field is exciting because of its dynamic and contemporary nature. Regulatory bodies frequently update sanction lists and implement stricter compliance requirements to keep up with the global threat landscape. For example, money is the lifeblood of terrorism. Therefore, tackling financing at its root is crucial by implementing strong AML/CFT requirements and utilising advanced financial intelligence tools. Our RegTech and SupTech solutions help our customers comply with these regulatory requirements and contribute to fostering financial integrity at industry and global scales.
The CX team is the vital connection between AML Analytics solutions and our customers, providing a welcoming and supportive bridge between the two.
We ensure that the full power of AML Analytics solutions are leveraged so that our customer’s achieve their objectives and testing is fully optimised.
What has been the most surprising or interesting thing you've discovered in your research on AML/CFT so far?
The most interesting discovery in my AML/CFT research is the paradox within the global financial network. On the one hand, sanctions are consequential largely due to global interdependence in the financial network. On the other hand, this same network is what facilitates ML and FT. While the steps taken to mitigate ML/FT risks are multipronged, at AMLA, we make sure that financial institutions around the globe keep their sanction, transaction monitoring, PEP, and negative media screening systems operating at optimum levels. This ensures that financial institutions meet regulatory requirements and have robust detection systems to diminish the risk of exposure to financial crime.
Can you share a bit about what you've learned from each department you have worked with?
As a Sales Support Specialist Intern, I support the CRO and his team by helping streamline internal processes to ensure our customer-facing relationships are of the highest standards. It has been interesting to witness how interlinked the departments are between each other, creating a symbiotic environment where one gets to deliver impactful work. I also worked on a Whitepaper examining the regulatory benefits of carrying out a Thematic Review. A Thematic Review assesses the sanction screening and transaction monitoring systems used by regulated entities, which is essential for regulators to gain oversight of their AML/CFT market risk. I am very impressed with AMLA’s cutting-edge RegTech and SupTech solutions. The whole team has made sure that I understand our range of solutions and how they benefit our customers.
